Unfortunately, the lack of Russian fertilizer exports are just one of many economic/energy factors continuing to compound that are creating the conditions for what many experts are predicting will be a global famine.
David Beasley, executive director of the U.N. World Food Program, has sounded the alarm on, “a global emergency of unprecedented magnitude,” with up to 345 million people marching toward starvation and more mounting as the war in Ukraine continues to disrupt global food supply.
Many other independent experts suspect the U.N. estimates to be extremely optimistic. Michael Yon—a journalist and former Green Beret described as one of the most embedded war journalist in U.S. history, having traveled to over 80 countries performing on-the-ground critical analysis—has stated in an interview that he believes we may see a billion dead by 2025.
In an interview with the Epoch Times, Yon was quoted as saying:
These famines that are building are biblical. I don’t use that word lightly. At this rate, the Bible is going to need a new chapter. It’s really that serious.
While Yon casts much of the blame on authoritarian World Economic Forum and E.U. energy policies, he still considers the Russo-Ukrainian war to be a significant contributor to the crises.

To even begin to understand the current tensions between Russia and Ukraine, one must first begin to unravel the political complexities and violence that took place during the 2014 Maidan Revolution.
It was a bloody uprising that left over 100 dead and nearly 2000 injured, culminating in the overthrow of Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych.
While historically remembered as a popular uprising by the people of Ukraine against their corrupt leader (and there is plenty of truth in this), whats often ignored was the major roles Western governments—the U.S. in particular—played in fanning the flames of revolution to serve their own geopolitical interests.
Branko Marcetic has written one of the most detailed and nuanced pieces on the subject with this article published for Jacobin.
Marcetic puts it succinctly:
It’s an overstatement to say, as some critics have charged, that Washington orchestrated the Maidan uprising. But there’s no doubt US officials backed and exploited it for their own ends.
One of the most damning pieces of evidence for U.S. political meddeling comes from a leaked phone call between U.S. Assistant Secretary of State, Victoria Nuland, and the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine in which they discuss plans for how they will restructure the Ukrainian government after the revolution.
In the conversation, Nuland emphatically declares that opposition leader Arseniy Yatsenyuk should be the one given the seat of power. Yatsenyuk just so happened to become prime minister immediately following the Maidan Revolution.

10. I watched that documentary Greenwald did on Snowden and thought it was great.
Citizenfour is a 2014 documentary film directed by Laura Poitras that chronicles live the events that led to the greatest government intelligence whistle-blowing scandal in U.S. history.
By 2013, Poitras had already been working on a film about secret monitoring programs being conducted in the United States due to post-9/11 policies. It was because of this that she received an encrypted email from an anonymous government intelligence worker codenamed Citizen Four offering to leak secret information about the massive illegal wiretapping operations being conducted by the NSA in collaboration with other intelligence agencies.
The film documents these early email exchanges and the subsequent secret meetings in a Hong Kong hotel room where Poitras brings along journalist Glenn Greenwald to meet face-to-face with Citizen Four, who reveals himself to be an NSA employee named Edward Snowden. What follows is a real-life spy thriller and a revelation of a global conspiracy of Orwellian magnitude.
